Find an S2 Z-Wave device key
Z-Wave devices that utilize the S2 security require a security code in order to be enrolled on a Z-Wave network.

Device key format
S2 device keys consist of 8 sets of 5 digits in the following format:

Locating the device key
The device key is usually located:
- On the packaging for the device.
- On a label on the outside of the device.
- Often on the back of the device.
Alternatively, the device key is sometimes located:
- Within the battery area (open battery terminal)
- With a QR code
- The key will often be below a QR code on the packaging and consist of five underlined digits.
- If a QR code is unable to be scanned following the instructions in Add an S2-encrypted Z-Wave device, then that QR code may be unrelated to S2.
