How long does it take until an Access Control door controller reports a loss of connection?
Alarm.com Access Control door controllers will report loss of network connectivity in two concurrent ways. First, it will report a controller as Not Networked initially and then in Malfunction (offline) after approximately 3 hours if it does not reconnect to Alarm.com.
Not Networked
An Alarm.com Access Control door controller will report a Not Networked event when it has lost its network connection within 2 minutes. If the controller reconnects to Alarm.com within 3 hours since reporting Not Networked, it will report End of Not Networked.
Note: The Not Networked and End of Not Networked events will be displayed in the Event History or Activity pages on the account. Neither event will generate a notification.
Malfunction (offline)
Alarm.com Access Control door controllers will report a Malfunction (offline) event and Trouble Condition if a controller has not communicated with Alarm.com for approximately 3 hours.
Alarm.com determines a controller's connection status by pinging a controller periodically after a Not Networked event is generated or if no local activity is received for over an hour. If a controller does not respond to any pings over the span of 3 hours since the last reported event, a Malfunction (offline) message and Trouble Condition will be generated to report a loss of connection.
Note: A notification about a controller in a Malfunction (offline) state or the restoral to an Online state will only be sent if a System Event Notification (A device is in malfunction) notification was previously configured.
