Create a report that spans multiple locations or groups
Smarter Business Reports provide comprehensive insights into the activity of a location or business. The ability to generate a Smarter Business Report for Standalone/Sub-Groups or Parent Groups depends on the login used when generating the report.
When logged into a Standalone Enterprise Group or a Sub-Group, the Smarter Business Report generated can be for multiple selected locations within the Enterprise group or of all systems associated with the group. This is useful for compiling information across multiple locations and systems.
When logged into a Parent Group, Smarter Business Reports can be created that contain any system within any of the Sub-Groups contained within that Parent Group.
Smarter Business Report types
There are multiple different Smarter Business Reports that can be generated:
- Location Summary Report - Graphs sensor activity, opening, and closing events for the reporting period.
- Location Open/Close Report - Shows open/close events for the location.
- Alarms & Issues Report - Shows all Alarms/Issues for the location.
- Sensor Activity Report - Shows a count of sensor activations for the time periods as well as the first and last activation time for the reporting period.
- Arming/Disarming Summary - Provides the date and time for all arming and disarming activity.
- Video Health Report - Provides key data points and insights for your SVRs and cameras, plus the latest video snapshots.
- Access History Report - Shows all successful and failed access attempts.
- User Summary Report for Access Control - Provides a list of all users alongside relevant information such as credentials, credential start date, credential end date (where applicable), Access Group, and Access Plans.
- Temperature Monitoring Report - Provides key data points and insights for all temperature devices.
- Battery Level Report - Provides a list of devices with a battery level within a certain range for all properties managed.
Note: A report will only display if the required hardware is present in at least one single system within a group.
Create or edit a Smarter Business Report for a Standalone or Sub-Group
To create or edit a Smarter Business Report for a Standalone or Sub-Group using the Alarm.com customer website:
- Log in to the Enterprise Standalone or sub-group.
- Click Activity.
- Click Reports.
- Create a new report or edit an existing one.
- To create a new report, click New Report, then select the type of report to be generated.
- To edit an existing report, click
next to the desired report.
Note: To delete an existing report, clicknext to the desired report.
- In Report Name, enter the desired name for the report.
- Verify the Report Active toggle switch is enabled.
- In Locations to include in the report, select All Locations or select Only the Following Locations to select individual locations in the group.
- To choose recipients, click Add.
- Click the entries in the Address book that are to be notified, or click the New button to add a new Address Book entry.
- Click Close.
- Verify the report is configured with the correct settings.
- Click Save.
To create or edit a Smarter Business Report for a Standalone or Sub-Group using the Alarm.com app:
- Log in to the Enterprise Standalone or sub-group.
- Tap

- Select the desired recipients.

To create or edit a Smarter Business Report for a Parent Group:
- Log in to the Enterprise Parent Group using the Alarm.com customer website.
- Click Activity.
- Click Reports.
- Create a new report or edit an existing one.
- To create a new report, click New Report, then select the type of report to be generated.
- To edit an existing report, click
next to the desired report.
Note: To delete an existing report, clicknext to the desired report.
- In Report Name, enter the desired name for the report.
- Verify the Report Active toggle switch is enabled.
- In Locations to include in the report, select All Locations or select Only the Following Locations to select individual locations contained within the Sub-Groups.
- To choose recipients, click Add.
- Click the entries in the Address book that are to be notified, or click the New button to add a new Address Book entry.
- Click Close.
- Verify the report is configured with the correct settings.
- Click Save.
To run an On-Demand report for a Standalone or Sub-Group
To run an on-demand report for a Standalone or Sub-Group using the Alarm.com customer website:
- Log in to the Enterprise Standalone or Sub-Group.
- Click Activity.
- Click Reports.
- Click on the ellipses next to the report you want to run
- Click
next to the desired report.

To run an on-demand report for a Standalone or Sub-Group using the Customer app:
- Log in to the Enterprise Standalone or Sub-Group.
- Tap

- In Actions, tap Run Report.

To run an on-demand report
- Log in to the Enterprise Parent Group using the Alarm.com customer website.
- Click Activity.

Frequently asked questions
When are the reports processed?
Daily reports begin processing every morning around 6:00 AM EST with the information for the previous day.
Weekly reports begin processing around 9:00 AM EST every Monday.
Monthly reports begin processing around 6:30 AM EST on the first day of every month.
How are reports received?
Depending on the type of report, the recipients selected can receive an email with a web link, a PDF, or a CSV file of the report.
Will the reports show who has armed and disarmed the system?
The report shows who armed and disarmed the panel or partition based on the same information that is displayed in the Event History. If a user code is used to disarm a panel or partition, the name of the user who disarmed will display. If secure arming is turned off, it will show that the panel was armed but not by whom since no user code was entered.
Arming/Disarming Reports also show the username who sent a specific remote command.
Do reports require business hours?
The Location Open/Close and Location Summary reports require business hours. The option to create these reports will be unavailable if business hours are not set up on the account. For more information about business hours, see Configure Commercial Business Hours.
Can all customers use reports?
No. Reports are restricted to customers with the Commercial or Commercial Plus service package, and they are available without needing to select an additional add-on.
