Can customers create a login that only has permissions to specific Access Control doors?
Yes. Customers can create secondary user logins for the Alarm.com Alarm.com customer website and Alarm.com app that are only allowed to control specific Access Control doors or Access Control features.
Note: New user logins can only be created using the Alarm.com customer website.
Features
The Limited Device Access permission allows the user to configure a secondary login to only have Alarm.com customer website and Alarm.com app access to specific Access Control doors with the following functionality:
- Access Control Real-Time Control
- Full Control - Logins can only buzz open the selected Access Control doors.
- Access Control Door Control
- Read Only - Logins can view the current status of the selected access control doors and schedules.
- Full Control - Logins can unlock, lock, and buzz open the selected access control doors. Logins with this Full Control option can also create and edit access control door schedules.
Note: Users with this Full Control permission are restricted from editing or saving rules. Additionally, users with Full Control are not able to view or edit schedules and rules from the Customer app.
To create a Alarm.com customer website login with Access Control only permissions:
- Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
- Click User Access.
- Click Manage Logins.
- Click Add a Login.
- In the Email Address field, enter the new user's email address.
- In the Login Name field, enter the new user's desired login name.
Note: The user creating the login needs to contact the new user and tell them their login name, as this information is not included in the email for security reasons. - Using the Language Preference dropdown menu, select the new user's language preference.
- Click Save.
- On the Manage Login Permissions page, click to select Limited Device Access to create a login with limited permissions.

- Click Access Control
- Click to select any other feature permissions to allow the new user control.
- Click Save.
Note: New users receive an email containing a temporary password and a link to set up a new password. If this email is not being received, confirm the user's email address is entered correctly and/or have the user check their junk/spam folder.
To edit an existing Alarm.com customer website login to have Access Control only permissions:
Note: The primary login's permissions cannot be edited.
- Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
- Click User Access.
- Click Manage Logins.
- Click to select the secondary login to edit.
- On the Manage Login Permissions page, click to select Limited Device Access to create a login with limited permissions.

- Click Access Control.
- Click to select any other feature permissions to allow the user control.
- Click Save.
