Can Access Control be interfaced with an intercom system?
Yes. In some cases, the subscriber may want the ability to unlock an Access Control door using an intercom system. Most intercom systems allow the subscriber to unlock a door directly from the intercom. This is usually accomplished with a normally open/closed dry contact wired to a door strike or magnetic lock.
To interface the Alarm.com Access Control system to the intercom:
- Connect the intercom’s normally open/closed dry contact output in the same manner as when connecting a request to exit device (REX) to the controller or expansion module.
- The strike or magnetic lock will be wired to the Alarm.com door controller or expansion module, as indicated in the installation instructions.
For specific wiring and programming details of intercom, refer to the installation manual of the device being connected to.
