Why does the LED on the reader device stay red when a door is triggered to open?

Typically, the LED on the reader stays red when there is a problem with the wiring. Use the following instructions to troubleshoot.

If the LED on the door's reader remains red when the door is opened or buzzed open:

  • Verify the LED wire from the reader is going to the LED terminal on the Alarm.com Access Control hardware.
  • If there are multiple LED wires, verify the green LED wire is connected to the LED terminal.
  • Refer to the reader's manual to see if there are any LED specific dip-switches or settings that need to be adjusted.

If the wiring is verified and correct, contact the installer or manufacturer of the proximity reader for further assistance.
