Change the video alert format
The video alert format is the type of file that gets sent to your notifications' recipients.
Depending on the device used to playback footage, the video alert format may need to be changed. Some devices, operating systems, and applications are limited in the file formats they support.
Available file formats
- Windows PC (.avi)
- Macintosh (.mov)
- iPhone (.mov)
- Android (.avi)
- AT&T iPhone (.mp4)
Change the video alert format
The file format of video alerts can be changed using the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app.
To change the video alert format using the Alarm.com customer website:
- Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
- Click Video.
- Click Recording Rules.
- In Video Alert Formats, click
next to the desired user. - Using the dropdown menu, select the desired file format.
- Click Test to verify the correct format was selected.
- Click Save.
To change the video alert format using the Alarm.com app:
- Log in to the Alarm.com app.
- Tap

. - Tap Recording Rules.
- In Video Alert Formats, tap next to the desired user.
- Using the dropdown menu, select the desired file format.
- Tap Send Test Notification to verify the correct format was selected.
- Tap Save.
