How long can the ADC-VDB780B battery last?

The ADC-VDB780B is estimated to last up to 6 months on a single charge, depending on usage.

Important: Battery life depends on what device the VDB780B is connected to. When the VDB780B is used with an IQ WiFi 6 or third-party access point in conjunction with an IQ Panel 4/Hub/NS, its battery life reduces to around a 2-month duration. For more information about how the VDB780B works connected to different devices, see What devices support the ADC-VDB780B?

Battery life best practices

To improve the battery life of the ADC-VDB780B, there are some things to keep in mind:

Note: Having a spare battery pack can prevent having to leave the doorbell offline to charge every few months. For more information, see Are spare batteries available for the ADC-VDB780?

  • The doorbell should have a strong network connection. Intermittent behavior causes the camera to be in wakeup/active modes as it tries to connect.
  • Certain types of activity can reduce the battery life:
    • Frequent use of the doorbell (live view, button presses from guests)
    • High frequency of PIR/motion triggers
    • Extreme temperatures
  • For the best battery performance, pair the VDB780B to the W115C or SG130. Alarm.com access points are configured to maximize the period that the doorbell can be set to low power states, and that extends the overall battery life of the VDB780B.
