How many thermostats can a system have?

Multiple thermostats can be enrolled or integrated into a system. The maximum number of thermostats, however, depends on the type of device.

Z-Wave thermostats

For optimal functionality, it is recommended to have no more than 10 Z-Wave thermostats per system. For Remote Temperature Sensors, there is a maximum of 10 temperature sensors on one system.

Supported panels have a maximum amount of space available for Z-Wave devices. If there are more than the recommended number of Z-Wave devices, the user may experience odd behaviors or inconsistency with the Z-Wave network. For more information about the number of Z-Wave devices a system can have, see How many Z-Wave devices can be enrolled on an account?

Note: Some IQ panels can set Z-Wave device limits to a higher number, but it is still recommended to add no more than 10 thermostats to ensure network stability.

Wi-Fi thermostats

There is no limit to the number of Wi-Fi thermostats that may be integrated with Alarm.com. For more information about which Wi-Fi thermostats work with Alarm.com, see Thermostats.

Google Nest Thermostat limits

Currently, Alarm.com does not place a limit on the number of Google Nest Thermostats that can be enrolled to an account. However, Google Nest currently has a limit of 20 thermostats per home. If there are multiple homes on a customer's Google account, only devices on the first home are shared to Alarm.com.
