Modem-Panel Communication Error
The Modem-Panel Communication Error trouble condition indicates that the Alarm.com radio module is not able to communicate with the control panel.
How to resolve:
For self-contained panels:
- Verify that the cellular module is fully seated in the panel and all connections are secure.
- Verify the panel is receiving the proper voltage. For more information, see Measure panel and module voltage.
For modular panels:
- Confirm that the module is compatible with the control panel.
- Verify that the bus wiring between the module and the control panel is correct.
- Verify the wire gauge and length meet the panel requirements. For more information about wiring or power requirements, see the panel-specific article for What are the power requirements or refer to the panel-specific installation guide in Panel.
- Confirm panel programming is correct for the Alarm.com module. For more information about programming, refer to the specific module's installation guide in Panel.
- Once these are confirmed to be correct, reboot the system.
- To reboot the system:
- Disconnect the panel's AC power.
- Disconnect the battery.
- Wait 30 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery.
- Reconnect AC power.
- To reboot the system:
- Verify the panel is receiving the proper voltage. For more information, see Measure panel and module voltage.
- If the preceding steps do not resolve the behavior, replace the wiring.
- If replacing the wiring does not resolve the behavior, the cellular module may need to be replaced.
