Enroll, delete, or reset a Kwikset/Weiser Home Connect 620
Notice about device branding: This device is manufactured by Kwikset in the United States, and by Weiser in Canada.
Z-Wave locks use encrypted communication over Z-Wave, meaning their communication is completely secure. With this added security, the lock and the controller must use additional Z-Wave commands to enroll and communicate. With each additional command sent, the probability of a communication breakdown increases.
For information about hardware installation, see Kwikset Home Connect 620 - Installation Guide.
Important: Do not add or delete user codes locally to or from the lock. Only use the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app for user code management.
To mitigate the chances of enrollment failure for locks, complete the following during installation.
To enroll a Kwikset Home Connect 620 into a Z-Wave network:
As a SmartStart/Long Range (LR) device:
Note: Z-Wave LR is only available with 800 series versions of this device.
It is recommended to enroll this device as a SmartStart device to eliminate the need to put Z-Wave controllers into Add Mode or to trigger devices (as is the case when enrolling non-SmartStart S2 devices). This method also allows the device to utilize Z-Wave Long Range.
For information about SmartStart compatibility and the enrollment process, see Add or remove a Z-Wave SmartStart-enabled device.
For more information about enrolling as a Z-Wave LR device, see Add a Z-Wave Long Range (Z-Wave LR) device.
As an S2 device:
If the Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart-compatible, it is recommended to enroll this device as an S2 device for enhanced security and encryption features.
For information about this process, see Add an S2-encrypted Z-Wave device.
As an S0 device:
If your Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart or S2-compatible, this device can be enrolled in the traditional way as an S0 device.
- Place the Z-Wave controller into Add Mode.
- Press the A button on the lock one time.
To delete a Kwikset Home Connect 620 from a Z-Wave network:
- Place the Z-Wave controller into Delete Mode.
- Press the A button on the lock one time.
To reset a Kwikset Home Connect 620:
- Remove the battery pack from the lock.
- Reinsert the battery pack while holding the Program button on the lock.
- Continue holding the Program button for 30 seconds until the lock beeps and the status LED begins to flash red.
- Press the Program button again. The LED will briefly alternate between red and green while the lock completes the reset process.
- After a few seconds, the lock will initiate the handing sequence to signal a successful reset.
