Access Control Mobile Credentials

Smarter Access Control supports mobile credentials, enabling customers to use their smartphones to access doors instead of carrying a separate badge or key fob. Using mobile credentials saves time, money, and eliminates the need to manage separate physical credentials, which are easier to misplace or steal. Mobile credentials are exclusively supported by Alarm.com Access Control readers. For more information, see Alarm.com Access Control Readers.

Requirements

  • An Alarm.com Access Control account will require the Mobile Credentials service plan add-on
    • This initial add-on includes 30 mobile credentials per location at no cost
    • Customers can purchase 10 additional credentials per additional add-on and up to 2,500 mobile credentials maximum per account
  • An Alarm.com Access Control Reader. The following are Alarm.com Access Control Readers:

Troubleshooting

If the user did not recieve their invite, verify the email or phone number and carrier of the mobile device.

If the invite link is expired, a new one must be sent. Click Resend to send another link.

If the Mobile Credential is blank and doesn't show a username, verify the credential is assigned to a user that has access to the device.

If the Mobile Credential does not trigger the reader, verify the mobile device has permissions enabled to interact with nearby devices (e.g., Bluetooth, NFC, etc.).

If the Mobile Credential does not work at the door:

  1. Verify that the Mobile Credential has been associated with a user. If so, verify that the user has been added to an Access Plan.
  2. Verify that the Access Plan includes access to the door during the time you are testing/using the Mobile Credential.
  3. Wait 2 minutes after making user access changes before testing/using the system. The message Access Plan Changes Processed will appear when the changes have been applied.
  4. Verify that the door can be buzzed open using the Customer website or Customer app. The card reader will beep and flash, and the door should unlock.
    • If any of this does not happen, verify that the wiring to the access control hardware has been correctly connected.

Mobile credentials will no longer work after changing phones. For more information, see What happens if I change phones?.
