Water device is in malfunction
The Malfunction trouble condition indicates a device is unable to properly communicate.
Note: The water device status may also appear as offline.
If a water device is in malfunction or offline:
Z-Wave water valves/meters
Troubleshoot the water device using the Z-Wave Troubleshooting Wizard. For more information, see Z-Wave Troubleshooting Wizard.
Wi-Fi water valves/meters
- Verify the device is plugged in and powered on.
- If the local Wi-Fi network has changed credentials or routers, reconnect the water device to the Wi-Fi network. Refer to the device's third-party app for the Wi-Fi setup process.
- Power cycle the device by unplugging it for at least 10 seconds, then plugging it back in.
- If possible, power cycle the router by unplugging it for at least 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
- If the above steps do not resolve the behavior, contact your service provider for assistance.
Z-Wave water sensors
- Verify the Z-Wave water sensor has sufficient battery power. Replace the battery if the device has a Low Battery trouble condition or the battery is dead.
- Trigger the device to establish communication with the panel or hub. Depending on the sensor type, triggering the sensor may include:
- Opening and closing a contact sensor
- Activating a motion sensor
- Pressing a side button on the sensor
- Opening the battery compartment
- If the behavior is still not resolved, contact your service provider for assistance.
RF (alarm) water sensors
- Verify the device has sufficient battery power. Replace the battery if the device has a Low Battery trouble condition or the battery is dead.
