Create/edit a duress code remotely
A duress code is used instead of the regular arming or disarming code to trigger a duress alarm to indicate a possible hostage situation.
Note: If you are not able to add a duress code remotely, contact your service provider, as this feature requires specific permission.
Create/edit duress codes remotely
Duress codes can be managed remotely using the Alarm.com app or Alarm.com customer website.
To create/edit duress codes using the Alarm.com app:
- Log into the Alarm.com app.
- Tap .
- Tap Users.
- Tap to expand More.
- If there is not a current duress code:
- Tap Add Duress User in More Options.
- In the Duress Code Name field, enter the name of the duress code.
- Tap Create.
- In Access Code, enter the desired duress code or tap Generate Code to generate a random code.
- In Security Panels, select the panel partitions to apply the duress code to.
- Tap Save.
- If there is an existing duress code:
- Tap Edit Duress User in More Options.
- Tap the access code field.
- In Access Code, update the duress code as desired.
- In Security Panels, select the panel partitions to apply the duress code to.
- Tap Save.
- If there is not a current duress code:
To create/edit duress codes using the Alarm.com customer website:
- Log into the Alarm.com customer website.
- Click Users.
- Click to expand More.
- If there is not a current duress code:
- Click Add Duress User.
- In Duress Code Name, enter a name for the duress code.
- Click Create.
- In Access Code, enter the desired user code.
- A new access code can also be generated by clicking Generate Code.
- Click to select which devices and features the user will have access to.
- Click Save.
- If there is an existing duress code:
- Click Edit Duress User in More Options.
- Click the access code field.
- In Access Code, update the duress code as desired.
- In Security Panels, select the panel partitions to apply the duress code to.
- Click Save.
