Change the thermostat mode

The thermostat mode can be changed from the Alarm.com app and Alarm.com customer website. This allows the thermostat to be changed to heat, cool, or off from anywhere.

To change the thermostat mode using the Alarm.com app:

Note: If a thermostat mode listed below does not appear, you may not have a compatible thermostat or HVAC system.

  1. Log into the Alarm.com app.
  2. Tap Thermostats.
  3. Tap Mode.
  4. Tap to select the desired mode:
    • Heat Heat Mode: In Heat Mode, the thermostat heats your property.
    • Cool Cool Mode: In Cool Mode, the thermostat cools your property.
    • Auto icn-auto.svg: In Auto Mode, the thermostat switches between heating and cooling to keep your property in a comfortable temperature range between the minimum and maximum temperatures you specified.
    • Emer icn-heat-emergency.svg: Emergency Heat Mode is specific to heat pump systems and designed to heat the house quickly but energy inefficiently/expensively. Heat pumps become less effective at heating when the outside temperature gets too cold, so Emergency Mode bypasses the heat pump to heat the building quicker.
    • Off icn-circle-dash.svg: In Off Mode, the thermostat does not run.
