Alarm.com Skill - Connect Amazon Alexa with Alarm.com

Compatibility:

The Alarm.com Skill is compatible with all Alexa-enabled Amazon devices (e.g., Echo Spot, Echo Dot, Echo Show, etc.).

Compatibility considerations include:

  • Doorbell cameras are not compatible with Amazon Alexa.
  • It is not possible to play video on Echo device screens.

Requirements:

In order to use Alarm.com with Amazon Alexa, you must have:

  • A customer account powered by Alarm.com.
  • Lights, thermostats, locks, garage doors, security panel, or camera powered by Alarm.com.
  • A device with Amazon Alexa, such as the Echo or Echo Dot.

Important: The Amazon Alexa device must be set to English.

To set up Alarm.com skill with Alexa:

Using your voice:
  1. Tell your Alexa enabled device: "Alexa, talk to Alarm.com." Alexa will respond letting you know that your Alarm.com account needs to be linked.
  2. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your mobile device or go to Alexa.amazon.com on your web browser.
  3. On the Home dashboard, you will see an Alarm.com card at the top of the app with a Link Account button.

  4. Tap Link Account.
  5. To finish linking your account, scroll down to Linking the Account.
Searching through Skills on Amazon Alexa App
  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app on your mobile device.
  2. Tap Menu icon.png.
  3. Tap Skills & Games.

  4. Tap the search icon at the top of the screen.

  5. Enter Alarm.com into the search field.
     
    Note: The Alarm.com Smart Home is the native Alexa skill and is discussed in Amazon Alexa Smart Home Skill.

  6. Tap on Alarm.com. The skill should be at the top of the list.
  7. Tap Enable on the skill page and follow the directions listed in Linking the Account to link your Alarm.com account.
Linking the Account
  1. Log in with your account credentials and tap Allow.

  2. You will then be asked if you would like to enable secure actions. Secure actions are security-sensitive (i.e., unlock the door, open the garage, and disarm the panel) and protected behind a four-digit pin. If interested, tap Allow (go to step 3) otherwise tap Deny (go to step 4).
     
    Note: You must have the appropriate system permissions for access to secure actions.

  3. Enter your four-digit pin and tap Submit.

  4. Your account is now linked. Tap icn-close.svg in the top left and begin interacting with Alarm.com through Amazon Alexa.

Now you can enjoy your lights, thermostats, locks, garage doors, and security system with the Alarm.com Skill for Amazon Alexa.
