Why do the SkyBell Doorbell Cameras have a battery?
To ring the existing chime, the SkyBell Doorbell Camera and Slim Line must short the doorbell circuit. During this time, the SkyBell Doorbell Cameras operate off of the battery's power.
Important: The SkyBell Doorbell Camera and Slim Line cannot function using only the battery power for an extended amount of time. It must be connected to a wired power supply. This increases the lifespan of the device.
