What is Auto Mode for a Thermostat?

In Auto Mode, the thermostat switches between heating and cooling to keep the user's property in a comfortable temperature range between the minimum and maximum temperatures specified by the customer. The Cool target temperature is the maximum temperature the user's thermostat is allowed to reach, and the Heat target temperature is the minimum temperature.

Auto mode is most useful in climates like deserts that experience a large temperature change over the course of the day. Auto mode can also be helpful during the months of the year when some days the user wants to cool and other days the user wants to heat. This is typically early fall and late spring months where temperatures outside sit comfortably between 45 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

Important: The Cool and Heat target temperatures need to be separated by at least 3 degrees to prevent the thermostat from toggling constantly between heating and cooling. Setting the Cool and Heat target temperatures less than 3 degrees from each other wastes energy and does nothing to enhance the user's comfort.
