If a MyQ-enabled garage door opener is not adding to the LiftMaster MyQ Internet Gateway (828LM) successfully, try the following troubleshooting steps.
Verify compatibility
The garage door may not be compatible with the MyQ Internet Gateway. For a list of compatible MyQ-enabled garage door openers, see Garage Compatibility.
Reset the MyQ Internet Gateway
If the garage door is compatible, but is still not enrolling properly, there are two ways to reset the MyQ Internet Gateway:
Soft Reset
A soft reset can be helpful if a local network issue is suspected.
To perform a soft reset:
- Press and hold the reset button until the Yellow LED blinks.
- A thin tool, such as a paperclip, pen, or earring, will be needed to perform this.
- Release the button.
- Wait until the Green and Blue LEDs blink. This indicates a renewed local area network (LAN) address and Internet connection.
- Attempt to add the garage door opener again.
Hard Reset
A hard reset will restore the gateway to factory defaults.
Note: After a hard reset, all equipment enrolled in the gateway will be removed.
To perform a hard reset:
- Disconnect power from the MyQ Internet Gateway.
- While powered off, press and hold reset button.
- A thin tool, such as a paperclip, pen, or earring, will be needed to perform this.
- While holding reset button, restore power to the MyQ Internet Gateway.
- Continue holding reset button for an additional 10-20 seconds until the Yellow LED blinks.
- Once the Yellow LED blinks, immediately release reset button.
- Attempt to install the MyQ Internet Gateway from the beginning.
