The Wi-Fi garage door opener is unable to connect to the internet
Solid red status LED
If the status LED on the Wi-Fi garage door opener is solid red, the Wi-Fi garage door opener is not connected to a Wi-Fi network.
- If the Wi-Fi router has been replaced or the password has been changed, the Wi-Fi network settings can be reconfigured by following the steps in Change the Wi-Fi network settings of a Genie Aladdin or OHD Anywhere garage device.
- Verify there is sufficient Wi-Fi signal in the garage.
- Connect a smartphone to the customer's Wi-Fi network and walk into the garage. Place phone where the Wi-Fi garage door opener will be mounted. The Wi-Fi signal strength at that location must be at least two bars.
- The thickness and number of walls, doors or other barriers between the router and garage can affect signal strength.
- If there are not at least two bars, try these steps to improve signal strength:
- Verify that the Wi-Fi router is out in the open not behind a big TV or in a cabinet.
- Move the Wi-Fi router closer to the garage.
- Purchase a Wi-Fi extender and reconfigure the Wi-Fi network settings by following the steps in Change the Wi-Fi network settings of a Genie Aladdin or OHD Anywhere garage device.
- If the network name was manually entered, verify that the chosen network is 2.4 GHz, not 5 GHz.
- Verify that the selected network and password are correct.
Flashing green status LED
If the status LED is flashing green, the Wi-Fi garage door opener is connected to the Wi-Fi router but cannot connect with the internet, or the Wi-Fi garage door opener was factory reset and does not have a valid encryption key.
- If the Wi-Fi garage door opener was previously factory reset, delete the Wi-Fi garage door opener from the customer's account following Remove a Genie or Overhead Door garage device from a customer account and re-enroll it following Genie and Overhead Door Integration - Installation Guide.

- Purchase a Wi-Fi extender and reconfigure the Wi-Fi network settings by following the steps in Change the Wi-Fi network settings of a Genie Aladdin or OHD Anywhere garage device.
- Verify that the customer's Wi-Fi router has a 2.4 GHz network enabled. If the customer has a dual-band router, ensure that the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands are separated.
- Try connecting the Wi-Fi garage door opener to the internet in the same room as the router, then move the Wi-Fi garage door opener back to the garage to determine if the Wi-Fi garage door opener keeps a solid connection. The Green LED is solid to indicate it has an internet connection.
Note: If a solid connection cannot be maintained, use a Wi-Fi range extender to boost signal strength in the garage. Wi-Fi range extenders are readily available at most consumer electronics stores.
Find the correct serial number on the garage door opener
