Safety Button widget

The Safety Button widget enables customers to press the Safety Button to connect to police, fire, or emergency medical help from their phones’ Home screen. Once activated, users will be connected directly to a trained operator who will promptly dispatch responders to their precise location.

Requirements

  • The In-App Safety Button service package add-on
  • Alarm.com iOS app version 5.7.0+
  • An iPhone using version iOS 17+
     
    Important: iOS17+ is required for the widget to display in the Apple widget gallery.
     
  • Customers must use Keep Me Logged In to use the widget feature

To add the Safety Button widget to the Home screen:

  1. On the Home screen, press and hold an empty area until the apps begin to move.
  2. Tap Add or Edit.
  3. Select the Alarm.com widget.
  4. Swipe to the Safety Button widget.
  5. Tap Add Widget.
  6. Tap and drag the widget to the desired location, then tap Done.

To use the Safety Button widget:

  1. Locate the Safety Button widget on the Home screen.
  2. Tap the Safety Button if you are in need of help.
  3. The Alarm.com app will launch, allowing you to enter your PIN to cancel if desired.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cancel a call for help placed through the Safety Button widget?

Yes. Upon tapping the Safety Button, the app will launch, allowing you to enter your PIN within 10 seconds to cancel your call. You can also cancel by providing their PIN to the trained operator by text or phone call.

Can I use the Safety Button widget in conjunction with other widgets?

Yes. You can configure the System Control widget and Saved Clips widget alongside the Safety Button Widget.

Can the widget be used in conjunction with Face ID or Passcode lock for the Alarm.com Alarm.com app?

No. As this setting helps protect unwanted access to the app, these widgets are not configurable when Face ID or Passcode protection has been enabled.
