Safety Button widget

The Safety Button widget enables customers to press the Safety Button to connect to police, fire, or emergency medical help from their phones’ Home screen. Once activated, users will be connected directly to a trained operator who will promptly dispatch responders to their precise location.

Requirements

  • The In-App Safety Button service package add-on
  • Android: 
    • Alarm.com Android app version 5.7.3+
  • iOS:
    • Alarm.com iOS app version 5.7.0+
    • iOS version 17+
       
      Important: iOS 17+ is required for the widget to display in the Apple widget gallery.
       
  • Customers must use Keep Me Logged In to use the widget feature

Add the Safety Button widget to the Home screen

The Safety Button widget can be added to the Home screen for iOS and Android devices.

  1. On the Home screen, press and hold an empty area until the apps begin to move.
  2. Tap Add or Edit.
  3. Select the Alarm.com widget.
  4. Swipe to the Safety Button widget.
  5. Tap Add Widget.
  6. Tap and drag the widget to the desired location, then tap Done.

  2. Tap Widgets.
  3. Find and select the Alarm.com widget.
  4. Press and hold the Safety Button option to place the widget onto the Home Screen.

To use the Safety Button widget:

  1. Locate the Safety Button widget on the Home screen.
  2. Tap the Safety Button if you are in need of help.
  3. The app will launch, allowing you to enter your PIN to cancel if desired.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Upon tapping the Safety Button, the app will launch, allowing you to enter your PIN within 10 seconds to cancel your call. You can also cancel by providing their PIN to the trained operator by text or phone call.

Yes. Additional widgets are available on both Android and iOS and can be used in conjunction with the Safety Button widget.

iOS devices

iOS users can configure the System Control widget and Saved Clips widget alongside the Safety Button Widget.

Yes. The Safety Button widget is configurable when Face ID or Passcode protection has been enabled. Users are still required to confirm their identity via biometrics or passcode in order to cancel the alarm.
