Voice Notifications User Guide
Voice Notifications is a feature that allows the customer to receive a phone call based on their settings. Additionally, an opt-out message is available that allows customers to unsubscribe from the alerts with the press of a button.
There are two types of Voice Notifications:
- Voice Notifications for Alarms
- Voice Notifications for Non-Alarms
If there is an alarm, there is a prompt to disarm. If there is a non-alarm event, a notification update is sent.
Note: Voice notifications are only supported in the US and Canada. Voice Notifications are not available for Thermostat Alerts.
Requirements
- The Voice Notifications for Alarms or Voice Notifications for Non-Alarms add-on
Note: Voice Notifications is only available on Security Accounts.
How voice notifications work
- Voice Notifications allow you to receive automated phone calls for alarm events
- For Alarms:
- If there is an active alarm, recipients are prompted to provide their PIN so they can disarm the panel and resolve the alarm from the call
- For Non-Alarms:
- Get automated phone calls for non-alarm activity, like door openings, leak detection, and motion sensor alerts
Note: Voice Notification support is not available for thermostat-related alerts.

Voice notifications optional opt-out message
- An optional opt-out message displays the first time a voice notification is received
Example: "To manage voice notification settings, visit the Alarm.com app or Alarm.com customer website. To opt out of all future voice notifications for [System Name], press 1." - Allows customers to easily unsubscribe from automated voice notifications with the press of a button.
- The opt-out message will play once every 6 months for recipients.
- For alarm-related voice notifications, the message plays after the system has been disarmed and the alarm is resolved using a PIN code.
- For non-alarm voice notifications, the prompt plays at the conclusion of the automated alert
- A confirmation message plays after the opt-out is complete.
- Customers who choose to unsubscribe will no longer receive voice notifications from the relevant system. If they have enabled voice notifications for multiple systems, they must opt out of each one separately.
- The option to opt-out is particularly useful because customers may begin getting voice notifications who have not in a long time due to the recurring reliability issues and may not remember their login credentials to manage notifications on Alarm.com Alarm.com app or Alarm.com customer website.
