Alarm.com recommends Wi-Fi extenders that are capable of allowing the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands to be broadcast separately (i.e., use separate Wi-Fi names for each band) to ensure compatibility with the full range of Alarm.com video devices.

Although Alarm.com does not recommend a specific model, Netgear brand Wi-Fi extenders are generally a reliable option for expanding a user's Wi-Fi network.

Additional Skybell extender requirements

• The SkyBell Doorbell Camera does not support hidden SSIDs, so the extender must broadcast a visible network.
• Verify the extender uses a unique SSID (e.g., SSID_ext) from the router's main wireless network. The SkyBell Doorbell Camera may experience issues if the extender has the same SSID as the customer's router since it may bounce between using the two networks.
