What are the differences between the DSC PowerSeries Neo and DSC PowerSeries Pro?

The DSC PowerSeries Neo and DSC PowerSeries Pro both use the TL880LT Dual-Path Controllers to communicate with Alarm.com. The panels are similar, but the following are some ways to identify the two. 

Note: A backup/restore cannot be performed between a PowerSeries Neo and PowerSeries Pro.

PC board

One way to differentiate the DSC PowerSeries Pro and the DSC PowerSeries Neo is by looking at the PC board as shown in the following image:

As shown, some differences between the two PC boards are:

  • The DSC PowerSeries Pro has different USB ports than the DSC PowerSeries Neo. 
  • The DSC PowerSeries Pro PC board is larger in size than the DSC PowerSeries Neo PC board.
  • The DSC PowerSeries Pro has removable and colored terminal blocks, whereas the DSC PowerSeries Neo has stationary terminal blocks. 
  • The DSC PowerSeries Pro uses DC power, whereas the DSC PowerSeries Neo uses AC power. 
  • The DSC PowerSeries Pro has one PCLink port, whereas the DSC PowerSeries Neo has two PCLink ports. 

Panel models

In addition to the physical differences with the PC board, the panel model also identifies the panel: 

Panel type Compatible models
DSC PowerSeries Pro HS3032, HS3128, HS3248 on the DSC panel firmware version 1.01+
DSC PowerSeries Neo HS2016, HS2032, HS2064, HS2128 on the DSC panel firmware version 1.11+
