What kind of batteries does the Image Sensor use?

Battery compatibility

  • Lithium AA 1.5 Batteries (included in the box) are the recommended battery type for the Image Sensor.
  • The Image Sensor can function with Alkaline AA batteries, but they're not recommended as battery life may vary.
  • The Image Sensor is not compatible with High Capacity Lithium-Ion (3.6 V) batteries, which require an extra protection circuit to verify the voltage/current is maintained at safe and expected levels. Alarm.com Image Sensors do not have the extra circuit, so a Lithium-Ion battery may damage the Image Sensor.

Low battery threshold

The threshold for low battery on the Image Sensor varies based on the type of batteries being used.

  • When using lithium batteries, the Image Sensor reports low battery when it receives less than 3.05 volts.
  • Image Sensors using alkaline batteries report low battery when they receive less than 2.6 volts.

Typical battery life

The following is the typical Energizer Lithium battery life by Image Sensor model:

Image Sensor model Average battery  life for Energizer Lithium
