Ambient Onboarding Guide

The Ambient Onboarding process involves the Care-giver and Care-recipient and can be completed using the Alarm.com app. The Care-giver will send an email invitation to the Care-recipient and the Care-recipient can use it to complete the onboarding process.

Important: The Care-recipient must download the Alarm.com app to complete the onboarding process.

To complete the Care-recipient onboarding process:

Note: The Care-recipient will receive an email from the Care-giver. The link within the email will direct the Care-recipient to the Alarm.com app. The onboarding process can be started from a computer, but it must be completed using a mobile device.

  1. Find the Welcome to Ambient email sent by the Care-giver.
  2. Tap Get Started.
  3. Accept the Terms of Service.
    1. In Terms, tap I Agree.
    2. In Ambient Care-recipient Agreement, tap I Agree.
       
      Note: To receive an email copy of the agreement, tap  Email me a copy of this agreement.
       
  4. Create a password and set security questions.
    1. Using the Language dropdown menu, select the desired language.
    2. In the Login field, enter the desired login name.
    3. In the Password field, enter the desired password.
       
      Important: The password must be at least 10 characters and must include one letter, one number, and one special character.
       
    4. Using the Security Question dropdown menu, select the desired security question.
    5. Enter the answer to the selected security question.
    6. Tap Submit.
  5. In Welcome to Ambient, tap Continue.
  6. In Stay Connected, tap Turn On to enable notifications or tap Skip.
  7. In Activity Sharing, enable activity sharing or tap Skip.
    • To enable activity sharing, tap Turn On, then tap Enable.
  8. In Location Sharing, enable location sharing or tap Skip.
    • To enable location sharing:
      • Tap Turn On, then tap Enable.
      • In Allow Alarm.com to access this device's location, tap While using the app.
      • In Location Access Required, tap Go to Settings.
      • In Location permission, select Allow all the time.
  9. Tap Continue to Dashboard.
  10. Turn off Battery Optimization:
     
    Note: Turning off Battery Optimization only applies to Android devices.
     
    1. Open the Settings app on the Android device.
    2. Tap Battery.
    3. Tap Options, then tap Battery optimization.
    4. Tap Down, then tap All apps.
    5. Tap Alarm.com.
    6. Select Don't optimize, then tap Done.
