Create/edit an event-triggered light automation rule

Note: Automation rules using a Geo-Fence can only be created as an Event-Triggered Rule using the Alarm.com customer website.

1. Log into the Alarm.com app.
2. Tap  .  
3. Tap Rules.
4. Tap    to create a new rule or tap  next to an existing rule to edit it.
5. Next to when, tap Select.
6. Tap the trigger device type, then tap Next.
7. Select the trigger device(s) and trigger action, then tap Done.
8. Next to then, tap Select.
9. Select Light, then tap Next.
10. In Select Light(s), select the desired lights.
11. In Select Action, select the desired action, then tap Done.
12. Enter the desired name for the rule. 
13. If desired, next to Run at all times, tap Select to edit when the rule will run.
    • Tap to select At All Times for the rule will be carried out any time of day.
    • Tap to select Only during the following times to determine the specific days and times the rule will be carried out. 
      1. Tap to select the days the rule will be active.
      2. Using the Starting at dropdown menu, tap the start time for this rule. 
      3. Using the Ending at dropdown menu, tap the end time for this rule. 
14. After selecting times for the rule to run, tap Done.
15. Verify the rule is configured with the correct settings.
16. Tap Save.

1. Log into the Alarm.com customer website.
2. Click Automation.
3. Click Add New Rule to create a new rule or click  next to an existing rule to edit it.
4. Click New Rules Builder.
    
   Note: Automation rules using a Geo-Fence cannot be created using the New Rules Builder. Click Event-Triggered Rule to create an automation rule using a Geo-Fence.
    
5. Click when to select the trigger device and action.
6. Select the trigger device, then click Next.
7. Select the trigger device(s) and trigger action, then click Done.
8. Click then to select the automation device and trigger.
9. Select Light, then click Next.
10. In Select Light(s), select the desired lights.
11. In Select Action, select the desired action, then click Done.
12. Enter the desired name for the rule.
13. If desired, click Run at All Times to edit when the rule will run.
    • Click to select At All Times __ for the rule will be carried out any time of day.
    • Click to select Only during the following times to determine the specific days and times the rule will be carried out. 
      1. Click to select the days the rule will be active.
      2. Using the Starting at dropdown menu, select the start time for this rule. 
      3. Using the Ending at dropdown menu, select the end time for this rule. 
14. After selecting times for the rule to run, click Done.
15. Verify the rule is configured with the correct settings.
16. Click Save.
