Create an event-triggered water valve automation rule

Event-triggered water valve rules automate a Z-Wave water valve to open or close based on security panel or sensor activity status.

To create an event triggered water valve automation rule using the Alarm.com customer website:

Important: When selecting Open as the action to be performed for this rule, the rule will still run in the event of a water shut-off event. This may result in water damage to your home. Please consider this carefully before creating a rule that may involve opening a water valve.

  6. In Automate My, click to select Water Valves.
  7. In When this event occurs, click to select the device that will trigger the Water Valve rule and use the dropdown menus to specify the conditions of the action.
  8. In the Perform this action, use the dropdown menu to specify what the water valve will do when triggered and select a time constraint.
  9. In Select Devices, click to select the water valves that will follow the rule.
  10. In During these time frames, click to select when the rule will be active.
    • Select At All Times to have the rule be carried out at any time of day.
    • Select Only during the following times to choose specific days and times that selected devices are automated by the rule.
