Can I create a login that only has permissions to specific Access Control doors?

Yes. Secondary user logins can be created for the Alarm.com app or Alarm.com customer website that are only allowed to control specific Access Control doors or Access Control features. 

Note: New user logins can only be created using the Alarm.com customer website.

Features

The Limited Device Access permission allows you to configure a secondary login to only have Alarm.com app or Alarm.com customer website access to specific Access Control doors with the following functionality:

  • Access Control Real-Time Control
    • Full Control - Logins can only buzz open the selected Access Control doors.
  • Access Control Door Control
    • Read Only - Logins can view the current status of the selected access control doors and schedules.
    • Full Control - Logins can unlock, lock, and buzz open the selected access control doors. Logins with this Full Control option can also create and edit access control door schedules.
       
      Note: Users with this Full Control permission are restricted from editing or saving rules. Additionally, users with Full Control are not able to view or edit schedules and rules from the Alarm.com app.

To create a login with Access Control only permissions: 

  1. Log into the Alarm.com customer website.
  2. Click User Access.
  3. Click Manage Logins.
  4. Click Add a Login.
  5. In the Email Address field, enter the new user's email address.
  6. In the Login Name field, enter the new user's desired login name.
     
    Note: The user creating the login needs to contact the new user and tell them their login name, as this information is not included in the email for security reasons.
     
  7. Using the Language Preference dropdown menu, select the new user's language preference.
  8. Click Save.
  9. On the Manage Login Permissions page, click to select Limited Device Access to create a login with limited permissions.

  10. Click Access Control.
  11. Select the desired permission for the user.
    • Select Access Door Real-Time Control to allow the user to buzz open Access Control doors.
      • Using the Access Door Real-Time Control dropdown menu, select the doors the user has real-time permission to control. 
    • Select Access Control Door Control to either restrict or provide additional access to the Access Control doors.
      1. Using the Access Control Door Control dropdown menu, select either:
        • Read Only to allow the user to only view the current status of Access Control doors and schedules. 
        • Full Control to allow the user to unlock, lock, and buzz open Access Control doors, and also create/edit Access Control door rules/schedules.
           
          Note: Users with Full Control permission are restricted from editing or saving rules. Additionally, users with Full Control are not able to view or edit schedules and rules from the Alarm.com app.
           
      2. Using the second Access Control Door Control dropdown menu, select the doors the user has permission to further control. 
  12. Click Save.

To edit an existing Alarm.com customer website login to have Access Control only permissions: 

Note: The primary login's permissions cannot be edited.

  1. Log into the Alarm.com customer website.
  2. Click User Access.
  3. Click Manage Logins.
  4. Click to select the secondary login to edit.
  5. On the Manage Login Permissions page, click to select Limited Device Access to create a login with limited permissions.
    • See Feature Details above for the specific functionality of each permission option.
  6. Click Access Control.
  7. Select the desired permission for the user.
    • Select Access Door Real-Time Control to allow the user to buzz open Access Control doors.
      • Using the Access Door Real-Time Control dropdown menu, select the doors the user has real-time permission to control. 
    • Select Access Control Door Control to either restrict or provide additional access to the Access Control doors.
