Enroll, delete, or reset a Zooz Open/Close XS Sensor (ZSE41)

The Zooz Open/Close XS Sensor (ZSE41) can be enrolled into or deleted from a Z-Wave network following the instructions below.

For more information about installing a Zooz Open/Close XS Sensor (ZSE41), see Zooz Open/Close XS Sensor (ZSE41) - Installation Guide.

To enroll a Zooz Open/Close XS Sensor (ZSE41):

As a SmartStart device:

It is recommended to enroll this device as a SmartStart device to eliminate the need to put Z-Wave controllers into Add Mode or to trigger devices (as is the case when enrolling non-SmartStart S2 devices).

For information about SmartStart compatibility and the enrollment process, see Add or remove a Z-Wave SmartStart-enabled device.

As an S2 device:

If the Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart-compatible, it is recommended to enroll this device as an S2 device for enhanced security and encryption features.

For information about this process, see Add an S2-encrypted Z-Wave device.

As an S0 device:

If the Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart or S2-compatible, this device can be enrolled in the traditional way as an S0 device.

  1. Place the Z-Wave controller into Add Mode.
  2. Press and release the Z-Wave® button 3 times quickly. The LED indicator will start flashing to confirm inclusion mode and turn off once inclusion is completed.

To delete a Zooz Open/Close XS Sensor (ZSE41):

  1. Place the Z-Wave controller into Delete Mode.
  2. Press and release the Z-Wave® button on the sensor 3 times as quickly as possible.
  3. Your hub will confirm exclusion and the device will disappear from your controller's device list.

To reset a Zooz Open/Close XS Sensor (ZSE41):

  1. Make sure the sensor is powered, then click the Z-Wave button twice and hold it the third time for 10 seconds. The LED indicator will blink continuously.

  3. The LED indicator will flash 3 times to confirm a successful reset.
