How does Sensor Activity Monitoring work for motion sensors on a Wellness account?
Sensor Activity Monitoring (SAM) for motion sensors enables a sensor to report if it has recently detected motion (status shows as Activated) or if it has not detected motion recently (status shows as Idle). Each time a motion sensor detects motion, Alarm.com will update that sensor's status to Activated on the Equipment List and on the customer's Wellness dashboard on the Alarm.com customer website or Alarm.com app.
To avoid excessive Active/Idle status updates in the customer's History, Alarm.com will wait until the motion sensor has been idle for 20 minutes before displaying the Idle status in the event history. The time that the sensor went Idle will be backdated to three minutes after the last time it was activated.
Every subsequent activation of the motion sensor while the status is showing Activated will extend the amount of time that status is displayed for another 20 minutes before reverting to Idle.
Example: At 1:53 PM, a motion sensor is activated and it displays as Activated on the customer website and app. At 2:13 PM, after 20 minutes of inactivity, it reports as Idle as of 1:56 PM.
