How do notifications work?
The Users page on the Alarm.com customer website lists all the people the customer might want to notify when an event occurs, whether it is an emergency or an everyday event. Each person can have a list of e-mail addresses and/or phone numbers where they can be contacted. The Users page supports an unlimited number of entries.
When an event occurs, Alarm.com will notify the recipients who have been selected to receive notifications for that event type.

Example: The recipient might be emailed when the kids get home, but a text message could be sent to the recipient and their neighbors if the back door opens when it is not supposed to.
