What are Automation Suggestions?
Automation Suggestions make it easy for customers to quickly set up rules and schedules themselves, driving engagement and long‑term value. With just a few taps on the Alarm.com app or Alarm.com customer website, customers can select a suggestion and complete setup from a pre‑populated rule or schedule builder.
By providing a dedicated, self‑service space for configuring common rules and schedules, Automation Suggestions help both new and existing customers get more value from their system. Installers benefit too, with a clear handoff that lets them complete installations confidently and move on to the next job, knowing customers can easily configure automations on their own.
How it works
- Rule and schedule suggestions display if the customer has the appropriate devices and service package.
- For more information about creating rules and schedules, see New Rules Builder Overview and New Schedule Builder Overview.
- Suggestions are removed from the list if the suggested rule or schedule is created. Deleting the schedule or rule allows the suggestion to return.
- Once a suggestion is configured, it no longer appears as a suggestion. If the suggested automation is deleted, the suggestion will appear again.
-
The Suggestions section will appear at the top of the Rules and Schedules pages as long as one suggested rule or schedule is available to the customer and hasn't been created yet.
- If present, the list of suggestions can be collapsed or expanded by tapping the chevron icon on the card. The Alarm.com app and Alarm.com customer website independently remember whether the customer collapsed the Suggestions list.
