Smart Home Skill - Connect the Alexa Smart Home Skill to an Alarm.com account

Requirements: 

Note: Using the Alexa Smart Home Skill with Alarm.com is currently only available in the US. 

In order to use Alarm.com with Amazon Alexa, the following is required: 

  • An account powered by Alarm.com.
  • Lights and/or thermostats powered by Alarm.com.
  • An Amazon Alexa device and associated Amazon customer account. These include:
    • Echo
    • Echo Dot
    • Echo Show 
    • Tap 
    • FireTV Voice Remote 

To connect the Alexa Smart Home Skill to an Alarm.com account:

  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app on a mobile device.
  2. Tap  Alexa Icon.png.
  3. Tap Skills & Games.
  4. In the search field, enter Alarm.com, then tap Search.
  5. Tap Alarm.com Smart Home.
  6. Tap Enable To Use.
  7. Enter the Alarm.com account credentials.
  8. Tap Next.
  9. If the account is using Two Factor Authentication, request and enter the verification code.
     
    Note: If the verification code is not received, verify Two Factor Authentication is configured correctly and reenable the feature if necessary. For more information, see Enable or disable Two Factor Authentication for a customer login.
     
  10. Tap Next.
  11. Now that the skill has been enabled, it is time to discover any thermostats and lights. There are three ways to do this:
    1. When tapping Next on the confirmation screen, a pop-up window will appear and it will automatically begin searching for devices.
    2. Add devices from the home page. For more information, see Smart Home Skill - Add a device to the Amazon Alexa Smart Home skill.
    3. Ask Alexa. Say "Alexa, discover my devices".
         
  12. After the discovery is complete, the devices will appear in the Your Devices list.
