Alexa says, “I found several devices matching that name.”

If Alexa says, "I found several devices matching that name", try the following steps:

  1. Try saying the name of the device more clearly.
  2. If the user is trying to control multiple devices using a general command (e.g., "turn off all the lights”), create a group that includes all the devices the user wants to control in the group. For example, if the user wants to turn off a group of lights by saying "turn off all the lights", the user could create a group named The Lights and include all of the lights they would like to turn off.

Note: Unlike the Alarm.com skill, the Alarm.com Smart Home skill does not support general light commands. For more information on how to create a group, see Create a group of Amazon Alexa Smart Home devices.

  3. Verify that the user's device name follows the naming guidelines. For more information, see Alexa does not understand the names of my devices.
