Enroll, delete, or reset an IQ Water Valve (QZ2160-840)

This device is compatible with the following Alarm.com-supported security panels: Qolsys, DSC, SEM-Honeywell/ADEMCO Vista, Interlogix, and 2GIG GC2e, GC3e, and EDGE.

The IQ Water Valve (QZ2160-840) can be enrolled into or deleted from a Z-Wave network following the instructions below.

To enroll an IQ Water Valve (QZ2160-840) into a Z-Wave network:

As a SmartStart device:

It is recommended to enroll this device as a SmartStart device to eliminate the need to put Z-Wave controllers into Add Mode or to trigger devices (as is the case when enrolling non-SmartStart S2 devices).

As an S2 device:

If the Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart-compatible, it is recommended to enroll this device as an S2 device for enhanced security and encryption features.

As an S0 device:

If the Z-Wave controller is not SmartStart or S2-compatible, this device can be enrolled in the traditional way as an S0 device.

  1. Place the Z-Wave controller into Add Mode.
  2. Press the Touch Sense button three times. The device should beep with each press.
  3. The water valve is in inclusion mode when the LED is flashing yellow and the device is beeping.
  4. Successful pairing is indicated by the LED turning green for 1 second with two short beeps.

To delete an IQ Water Valve (QZ2160-840) from a Z-Wave network:

  1. Place the Z-Wave controller into Delete Mode.
  2. Press the Touch Sense button three times. The device should beep with each press.
  3. The water valve is in inclusion mode when the LED is flashing yellow and the device is beeping.
  4. Successful pairing is indicated by the LED turning green for 1 second with two short beeps.

To reset an IQ Water Valve (QZ2160-840):

Note: This should only be used in the event the Z-Wave network’s primary controller is missing or otherwise inoperable

  1. Press and hold the Touch Sense button until ten beeps are heard, then quickly press the Touch Sense button five more times.
  2. The LED will turn yellow for 1 second then green for 2 seconds with a long beep, indicating a successful reset.
