Quarterly water valve tests
Quarterly water valve tests reminds customers with Z-Wave water shutoff valves to test their valve every 90 days using the Alarm.com app. Regular testing of water valves is important to identify any issues that may arise so they can be resolved before water damage occurs.
Compatibility
Quarterly water valve tests are available on residential accounts in the United States and Canada with the Alarm.com Smart Water Valve (ADC-SWV100), Alarm.com Smart Water Valve(ADC-SWM150) and other Alarm.com-certified water valves (i.e., FortrezZ and Watercop).
To perform the quarterly water valve test:
- Log in to the Alarm.com app.
- Find the quarterly water valve test card.
Note: The quarterly water valve test card appears in the Alarm.com app every 90 days. If a water valve is already closed, the test card will not appear because the valve may have been closed by the customer due to a leak. - Tap Start water valve test.

- There are a few options the customer can select:
- Close & open valve now to perform the test and close and open the water valve.
- Remind me later to choose to be reminded later of the water valve test. The test card will appear on the next login.
- No, thanks to skip the test. The user will then see the test card again 90 days later.
- If Close & open valve now is selected, one of the following results will appear:
- The test is successful if Alarm.com is able to verify the water valve closed and opened correctly.

- If Alarm.com is unable to verify the water valve closed and opened correctly, the test will fail. The app will advise the customer to manually close and open the water valve, and then perform the test again. If the behavior persists, the customer is advised to contact their service provider.

- The test is successful if Alarm.com is able to verify the water valve closed and opened correctly.
