BAS-IP Video Intercom Integration - Customer Installation and User Guide

Receive intercom video calls, utilize Two-Way Audio, and buzz in guests from the Alarm.com Alarm.com app or BAS-IP indoor unit.

Setup overview

  1. Log in to the main property manager account using the Alarm.com customer website.
  2. Create logins for each recipient (e.g., tenants, staff).
  3. Set up the directory and add all recipient logins to the directory.
  4. Each recipient enrolls their chosen mobile devices in the Alarm.com app.

Note: Recipients do not appear in the directory until they enroll at least one mobile device.

Compatibility requirements

Integration with BAS-IP Video Intercom systems requires the following:

Supported BAS-IP intercom
  • Any Android 4.4 BAS-IP intercom
  • AA-07FBI
  • AA-12FBI
  • BI(02-12)FBI
  • AV-08FBL
Service package add-ons
  • The main property manager account should include Access Control, Doorbell Camera, and Video Intercom Management capabilities
  • Property tenant accounts should include Video Intercom User capabilities
Additional requirements The main property manager's Alarm.com customer account must be integrated with the BAS-IP web interface through Alarm.com

Note: Many BAS-IP intercom panels also meet Alarm.com's requirements to be enrolled as a third-party camera. However, due to the way that these intercom panel devices are integrated with Alarm.com, they cannot be enrolled as a third-party camera regardless of account or device settings.

Set up accounts for BAS-IP Video Intercom integration

Important: Before continuing, make sure the BAS-IP intercom panel hardware is installed, the main property manager account and any tenant accounts have their service packages properly configured, and the main property manager account and any tenant accounts are properly linked.
Configure the customer account(s)

The following outlines what each customer account must do to set up the BAS-IP Video Intercom integration.

Installation notice: The AV-08FBL uses the same setup process as Alarm.com's standard Video Intercom Mobile Directory (VIMD) for the remaining steps. To complete setup for the AV-08FBL, see the steps to configure the customer account(s) in Video Intercom Mobile Directory - Customer Installation and User Guide.

For the main property manager account:

Once the hardware is installed and the service packages are configured, the intercom directory will be automatically created and will be ready to edit.

Important: These options will not be available if the service package is not configured correctly.

  1. Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
  2. Click Video.
  3. Click Intercom.
  4. In Directory Management, click Set up for the directory that was automatically created.
  5. Use the Users/Recipient Systems dropdown menus to match the imported apartment information from the BAS-IP web interface for the linked tenant accounts.
    • If you need to create additional apartments, click BAS-IP Configuration to be directed to the BAS-IP web interface.

Note: You must be on the same LAN as the BAS-IP device to access its web interface.

  6. Complete the rest of the setup wizard, including setting up concierge, to save the directory.
For tenant accounts:

Tenants are the intercom recipients receiving the call. The following steps can be completed after the main property manager account sets up the intercom directory.

Important: This process must be completed using the tenant login credentials. Linked Logins will not be able to view or complete these steps.

  1. Intercom recipients receive an email invitation with instructions on how to download the Alarm.com app and enroll.

Note: Users will not receive this email if this is not their first Alarm.com account.

  2. After logging in to the Alarm.com app, tenants have access to an Intercom dashboard card, prompting them to enroll and set up their intercom profile. Tap Get Started.
    • If part of a system group, recipients must switch to the community system before initiating the enrollment process.
  3. Enter the required name information, then tap Next.
  4. To complete intercom enrollment and create an intercom call push notification rule, tap Agree & Save.
  5. Once enrolled, the Intercom card will update to show the door status.
    • System group members will only see this card while switched to the community system.

Note: The intercom card on the Alarm.com app can be used to buzz open the door on demand.

Using BAS-IP Video Intercom systems

Live stream expectations

BAS-IP intercom panels utilize Real-Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) encrypted via VPN for video streams. This networking protocol setup strictly limits live streams to 3 minutes, meaning the stream will time out after that regardless of other settings.

For tenants

Tenants will receive a push notification for an incoming call. They can accept the call from the notification, and if the call is missed the notification will turn into a missed call notification. The following is an example of the push notification the tenant receives and what the tenant sees during the call:

If the call is not answered, the tenant will receive a missed call push notification. The following is an example of what the tenant sees in the Alarm.com app:

  1. Scan the QR code displayed on the property to access the intercom directory webpage.
  2. Select the user to initiate a call.
