What is ONVIF and VAPIX?

ONVIF

ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) is a forum between surveillance camera companies with a common cause of ensuring cross-compatibility between IP camera manufacturers.

To be compatible with Alarm.com, devices must conform to the ONVIF Profile S standard of Basic Video Streaming for IP cameras.

VAPIX

VAPIX is a proprietary communication standard used by AXIS. 

To verify whether a specific camera model is ONVIF compliant or uses VAPIX:

Compatibility and support varies between devices. Consult the camera's manufacturer to verify specific camera model compatibility before attempting to use it on the Alarm.com platform.

As long as the camera is either compliant with ONVIF and/or uses VAPIX, it is supported.
