Third-party camera bandwidth recommendations
Third-party cameras can communicate with Alarm.com through a Pro Series recorder (ADC-CSVR2000P/08P/16P). Pro Series recorders can support up to 100 Mbps of bandwidth.
Bandwidth requirements
Recorder
A Pro Series recorder can support up to 100 Mbps total camera bandwidth. The combined bandwidth of the cameras connected to the recorder must stay below the 100 Mbps maximum.
Network
The network must be able to support the upload bandwidth that the cameras and the recorder need to function.
- The Pro Series recorder requires 2 Mbps.
- The upload bandwidth that cameras use depends on the video quality and playback speed.
For playback speeds higher than normal speed, the upload bandwidth requirements multiply with the playback speed.
Example: A camera that requires 2 Mbps of bandwidth at normal speed requires 4 Mbps at 2x speed.
To estimate the bandwidth and storage requirements of different camera configurations, see Third-party camera storage and bandwidth calculator.
