Enhanced support for panoramic third-party cameras

Alarm.com’s enhanced support for panoramic third-party cameras corrects distorted 360˚ video into clear, easy-to-use footage. Customers can now access dewarped versions of a fisheye camera's field of view directly from their Alarm.com account, allowing them to monitor large areas with a single panoramic camera.

Compatibility requirements

  • A Commercial Video Plus service package
  • A supported third-party camera connected to a compatible Alarm.com Stream Video Recorder.

Key features

  • Customers can view dewarped footage from their preferred third-party panoramic cameras directly through their Alarm.com account for seamless monitoring.
  • Third-party fisheye cameras are detected automatically when enrolled.
  • Four viewing modes are available for both live and recorded video using the Alarm.com customer website:
    • Standard 360°
    • Panoramic
    • 2 X 180°
    • Interactive
  • Remote Video Monitoring Console Operators can access a dewarped view of third-party fisheye cameras using the RVM Console Live View.

Configure the viewing mode

The viewing mode for a panoramic third-party camera can be configured using the Alarm.com customer website.

Note: Viewing mode preferences for each camera are saved once selected, ensuring the preferred view is automatically applied each time the camera is accessed.

  1. Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
  2. Click Video.
  3. Mouse over the desired video, then click Pan tilt video.
  4. In View Mode, click to select the desired viewing mode.

Note: When Interactive mode is selected, the cursor will be replaced with an arrow icon while hovering over the video frame. By clicking and holding on the arrow, it is possible to navigate around the field of view.

Troubleshooting

Enable the panoramic lens
Note: The Panoramic Lens feature will not function as expected unless the Pan-Tilt setting is disabled.

Some third-party cameras will require the user to disable the pan-tilt feature and/or enable the panoramic lens feature before being able to configure panoramic viewing modes. These settings can be configured using the Alarm.com customer website.

  1. Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
  2. Click Video.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Select the desired video device.
  5. Click General.
  6. Click Advanced Setup.
  7. In Device Capabilities:
    • Click the Pan-Tilt toggle switch to disable the pan-tilt feature if it is enabled.

    • Click the Panoramic Lens toggle switch to enable the panoramic lens feature.
  8. Click Save.
