The SVR does not format its hard drive

A Stream Video Recorder (SVR) should format its hard drive during enrollment. The hard drive needs to be formatted before it can start recording video from other video devices.

Note: The SVR210 and CSVR20XXP/CSVR21XXP series do not have the options outlined in this article. For more information about replacing hard drives on the CSVR20XXP/CSVR21XXP series, see Hard drive installation instructions for the 20XXP and 21XXP series CSVRs

To troubleshoot an SVR hard drive that does not configure:

  1. Verify that the SVR firmware is up to date. For more information about updating video device firmware, see Update a video device's firmware.
  2. Follow the steps to reformat the hard drive:
    1. Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
    2. Click Video.
    3. Click Settings.
    4. Select the desired SVR.
    5. In Drive Management, click Drive Management.
    6. Click Replace. If the SVR can hold multiple hard drives and only one is installed, try moving the hard drive to the unused slot.
    7. Follow the onscreen instructions. When prompted to replace the hard drive, remove and re-seat it.
  3. If the SVR still does not format, delete the SVR from the account. For more information about deleting video devices, see Delete a video device from a customer account.
  4. Factory reset the SVR. For model-specific reset instructions, see its factory reset page in Stream Video Recorder (SVR).
  5. Re-enroll the SVR onto the account, and start the formatting process. For more information about enrolling a video device, see its installation guide in Video Devices.
