Reformat an SD card installed in a video device

You can reformat an Onboard Recording SD card using the Alarm.com app or Alarm.com customer website. The SD card must be inserted into an active camera on the account for the reformatting option to be available.

Caution: Reformatting the SD card permanently removes all existing stored footage. If any footage needs to be saved, download it prior to reformatting the SD card. For more information about downloading footage, see Download saved video from Onboard Recording.

Reformat an SD card

SD cards can be reformatted using the Alarm.com app and Alarm.com customer website.

Important: The reformatting process may take several minutes. Do not manually power cycle the video device while it is completing this process.

Using the Alarm.com app:
  1. Log in to the Alarm.com app.
  2. Tap Video .
  3. Tap Configure.
  4. Tap to select the desired camera.
  5. Tap Video.
  6. In Recorded Video Settings, tap SD Card Info.
  7. Tap Reformat Card to begin reformatting.
Using the Alarm.com customer website:
  1. Log in to the Alarm.com customer website.
  2. Click Video.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Select the desired video device.
  5. Click Video.
  6. In Recorded Video Settings, click SD Card Info.
  7. Click Reformat Card to begin reformatting.
