Package Alerts for Alarm.com Video Doorbells

Customers can be the first to know when a package is delivered to their home or business with Package Alerts for the Alarm.com Video Doorbell (ADC-VDB770), Alarm.com Premium Video Doorbell Camera (ADC-VDB775), and Alarm.com Battery Doorbell Camera (ADC-VDB781B). Using Video Analytics, these Video Doorbells can identify when a visitor leaves a parcel on the customer's doorstep—notifying them immediately.

Package Alerts can be configured to send notifications right when a courier delivery is made, remind you if the box is not picked up, or alert you if it goes missing. The feature can be set up in seconds from the Recording Rules section of the Alarm.com customer website and Alarm.com app.

For more information about creating a Video Analytics rule, see Configure a Video Analytics rule.

Video Analytics rule order requirements

For the ADC-VDB775 and ADC-VDB781B, Package Alert notifications may only send consistently when the rule with Package Delivery or Package Retrieval enabled is the first Video Analytics rule created for the doorbell and the most recently saved rule. If other Video Analytics rules for the doorbell were created first, rules were deleted and recreated, or other existing rules were edited and saved more recently, Package Alert notifications may stop being sent even though the events will still appear in the customer account's Activity.

Example 1: No Video Analytics rules are currently created for the doorbell
  1. Create the Video Analytics rule for Package Alert notifications.
  2. Create any other desired Video Analytics rules for the doorbell.
  3. Edit the rule for Package Alert notifications and re-save it.
Example 2: A Package Alert Video Analytics rule has been created and the user wants to create an additional rule for the doorbell
  1. Create the second Video Analytics rule for the doorbell as desired.
  2. Edit the rule for Package Alert notifications and re-save it.
Example 3: A non-Package Alert Video Analytics rule has been created and the user wants to create a rule with Package Alert notifications
  1. Delete all existing Video Analytics rules for the doorbell.
  2. Create the Video Analytics rule for Package Alert notifications.
  3. Create any other desired Video Analytics rules for the doorbell.
  4. Edit the rule for Package Alert notifications and re-save it.
