Are there any wireless extenders recommended by Alarm.com?

Video cameras

Alarm.com recommends Wi-Fi extenders that are capable of allowing the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands to be broadcast separately (i.e., use separate Wi-Fi names for each band) to ensure compatibility with the full range of Alarm.com video devices. To verify the video devices' specific Wi-Fi requirements when extender options are limited, see their data sheets in Video Devices.

Although Alarm.com does not recommend a specific model, Netgear brand Wi-Fi extenders are generally a reliable option for expanding a user's Wi-Fi network.

Note: As an alternative, the Alarm.com Smart Gateway (ADC-SG130), though not a Wi-Fi booster or Wi-Fi extender, can be run using Ethernet to provide an additional access point for Alarm.com-compatible video devices and video doorbell cameras. For more information, see Important considerations for a successful ADC-SG130 installation experience.

The Alarm.com Video Doorbell series devices have the same recommendations as general video cameras.

The extender must broadcast a visible network. Hidden SSIDs (i.e., Wi-Fi names) are not supported.

Verify the extender uses an SSID (e.g., NetworkName_ext) that is unique from the router's main wireless network. The SkyBell Doorbell Camera may bounce between the two networks otherwise.
