AI Video Event Search

Feature Availability Notice: AI Video Event Search is only available in the U.S. This feature is not available in the state of Illinois due to local laws.

Alarm.com accounts with supported video service packages can now use natural language queries to search their saved video clip thumbnails for virtually anything. Simply type a search term into the AI search bar, or tap the microphone icon and use voice-to-text for searches on the Alarm.com app, to zero in on the most relevant clips (e.g., "Food deliveries from last week"). The feature supports searching for clothing brands, vehicle colors, models, and types, as well as animal breeds, or any other objects or elements that might be relevant to the property. Hone results further by also using standard filters, such as a date range or a specific camera. The capability is available on both the Alarm.com customer website and Alarm.com app, with mobile-exclusive support for dictated voice-to-text searches.

Compatibility requirements

  • Alarm.com Alarm.com app on app version 5.12.3+ for iOS or 5.9.4+ for Android OS
  • The primary login has accepted the AI Video Features Legal Agreement
  • Any Alarm.com video camera, or a supported third-party camera connected to a compatible Alarm.com Stream Video Recorder.

How it works

Important: AI Video Event Searches only apply to thumbnails for saved clips that are created after the feature is enabled.

  • Once the primary login accepts the AI Video Features Legal Agreement, the feature is enabled on the account.
  • Searches occur across all clip thumbnails uploaded after the feature is enabled from any camera on the account.
  • Mobile users can also utilize voice-to-text for AI Video Event Searches on the Alarm.com app.
  • By default, AI Video Event Search results cover the last 30 days and are sorted by most relevant.
  • Users can order results by most recent and further filter results by selecting a specific date range or specific cameras.
  • For more details regarding how AI Video Event Searches work and interact with other aspects of a customer account, tap or click Info on the AI Video Event Search results page.
