The ADC-VDB770 battery expands in hot climates
We have received some reports of the ADC-VDB770 internal battery expanding over time in hot climates, which could result in the device powering off due to not being able to connect properly with the backplate.
If you encounter this issue, we recommend following the Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) process and replacing the entire impacted device. Please list the RMA reason as Battery Expansion. For more information about the RMA process, see Request a return for equipment (RMA).
Caution: We do not recommend extracting battery packs from new units to use as replacements. We have reached this recommendation for several reasons:
- If performed improperly, the outer casing of the new battery may be punctured. Under no circumstances should a punctured battery be assembled into a customer device.
- If performed improperly, extracting existing battery packs has the potential to cause future battery performance issues if the battery or heater connector socket of the impacted device is damaged during the removal of the old battery.
- It is also possible to damage the battery heater during removal or installation. This can negatively affect the operation of the impacted doorbell in cold temperatures.
Alarm.com is preparing a battery replacement kit that can be used in the future when encountering this situation. Please contact resivideospecialists@alarm.com more information about the availability of the kit.
