Best practices for optimized video night vision for the ADC-V723/723X

The ADC-V723/723X has a wide field of view at 117° which is 30% greater than some previous Alarm.com outdoor cameras (e.g., the ADC-V722 and ADC-V726). In order to maintain even lighting across the camera's wide field of view in low-lighting conditions, the IR LED array was designed to illuminate a wide area. This means that if the camera is positioned in a location where there are bright, light-colored, or reflective items within the IR array’s field of view, some of the IR illumination may be reflected back toward the camera creating a lighter low-light image than desired.

To optimize night vision video:

  • Keep reflective items and obstructions (e.g., a wall, gutter, fascia, etc.) out of the camera’s view.

  • Avoid installation on inside corners. If it must be placed near a corner allow at least 3 feet of clearance from obstructions.
