Will a thermostat act as a Z-Wave repeater?

Thermostats connected to AC power at the time of enrollment will act as repeaters on the Z-Wave network. Z-Wave repeating is not a configurable option and cannot be changed after enrollment. A common wire must also be present in a thermostat in order for it to act as a repeater.

Note: This does not apply to the ADC-T25 thermostat, which will never act as a Z-Wave repeater.

To update an existing non-repeating thermostat to be a repeating device:

  1. Delete the thermostat from the Z-Wave network.
  2. Connect AC power to the thermostat.
  3. Enroll the thermostat to the Z-Wave network.

Important: Thermostats enrolled using AC power will continue repeating Z-Wave signal, even if AC power is lost. Z-Wave repeating without AC power is not recommended due to excessive battery usage and drain.
