nami created and sustains a fusion sensing platform (combining multiple Wi-Fi sensors’ data) to detect presence and motion. This platform uses Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), which combines Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things, for data analysis and activity identification.

The nami x Alarm.com integration allows customers to enroll nami devices and use them as a part of their Alarm.com ecosystem. The intention of the integration is for the devices enrolled (assuming a nami Alarm Pod is included) to work together as a security system.

A traditional security system includes a security panel and various sensors/videos to detect intrusion, as well as an alarm functionality to alert the end user. The nami x Alarm.com integration offers the same essential functionality as a typical security system with the siren of the nami Alarm Pod sounding the audible alarm when intrusion is detected, nami SensePlugs and nami contact sensors as devices to detect intrusion, and the Alarm.com platform’s alarm notifications and event review capabilities in the Alarm.com app.

  1. Verify the mobile device used to enroll the nami devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network that the devices should be connected to.
  2. Verify the mobile device's Bluetooth is on to proceed with the enrollment.
  3. Log in to the Alarm.com app and start the nami enrollment:
    1. Tap More.
    2. Tap Add Device
    3. Tap Sensor
    4. Tap Next to proceed with the enrollment flow for nami.
  4. Continue through the introductory screens. The Let's Get Started page displays with the places found, which will correspond to the system description of the customer account. Tap Next.
  5. The next screen displays options for what devices are being set up.
    • If setting up the Alarm 10 kit, tap on the Alarm 10 option to move forward. The next screen walks through the devices in the kit to be enrolled.
    • If setting up the Aware 10 kit, tap on the Aware 10 option to move forward. The next screen walks through the devices in the kit to be enrolled.
    • If setting up a single device, tap on the Set up a single device option at the bottom of the screen. Then, select the device image and label that corresponds to the device you are setting up.
      • Note: Only nami devices are supported through this flow. Please do not try to enroll a non-nami device.
  6. The next screen prompts for an area in which to enroll the devices. Select an existing area or create a new area that the device will be associated with, and then tap Next.
    • Note: A nami Area roughly correlates to a partition in a traditional security panel, and nami activity sensors are Alarm Pods and SensePlugs. There is a limit of four activity sensors per Area.
    • The Select or create an Area screen will display the existing Areas as well as the option to create a new Area.
  7. After opting to create an Area, the next screen prompts for a name for the Area. It’s recommended to give the Area a descriptive name (e.g., First floor, Basement, etc.), and then tap Create Area.
  8. After creating an Area, the next few screens give tips on best practices with respect to device placement within the Area.
    • Note: The screens explain why it is important to set up the Alarm Pod and SensePlugs first, since they create the sensing area that detects motion.
  9. Next, the flow will prompt the setup of the Alarm Pod. After reviewing the best practice guidelines on the Add Alarm Pod screen, tap Next to scan the QR code on the back of the Alarm Pod behind the plastic cover.
  10. After scanning the Alarm Pod’s QR code, connect the Alarm Pod to power. The Alarm Pod should be pulsing dark blue as it enters pairing mode. The flow will also prompt for a name for the Alarm Pod as the device pairs with the phone.
    • Note: The Alarm Pod is pairing using Bluetooth at this stage. Please ensure Bluetooth is turned on to complete the pairing process.
  11. After Bluetooth pairing is complete, it’s time for the device to connect to the Wi-Fi network. Follow the prompt to select one of the Wi-Fi networks in range and enter the password for the network. The flow shows a game of pong screen as the device connects to Wi-Fi.
    • Note: It is imperative that the Wi-Fi network selected for the device is the same one that the phone is using. Please ensure that the phone that is facilitating the enrollment process is connected to the same Wi-Fi network for the nami devices to connect to.
  12. An enrollment progress screen will display once the Alarm Pod is successfully connected to the Wi-Fi network and enrolled. Tap Next to enroll the SensePlugs.
  13. After reviewing the best practices screen for adding a SensePlug, proceed to scan the QR code of the SensePlug when it’s not connected to power.
    • Note: It is recommended to place the Wi-Fi sensing devices within 3 – 10 m (10 – 30 ft) of each other.
  14. After scanning the QR code, connect the SensePlug to power. It should be pulsing dark blue as it enters pairing mode. Follow the prompts to name the SensePlug as it completes the pairing process.
  15. Repeat step 11 to connect the SensePlug to the same Wi-Fi network as the Alarm Pod. After connecting to Wi-Fi, a screen will display the successful enrollment and the progress in kit enrollment.
  16. Repeat steps 13 – 15 to enroll the second SensePlug.
  17. Next, follow the prompts within the flow to enroll the door sensor. The first few screens describe best practices for device placement and enrollment.
  18. Follow the prompts to scan the QR code of the door sensor. Be sure to press the top button once (a short but firm press, not a long press) while the sensor is enrolling. The door sensor should be pulsing in white while in enrollment mode.
  19. After the door sensor is enrolled, follow the prompts to properly install the door sensor. After that, a screen indicating kit installment progress will be displayed.
  20. Next, follow the prompts within the flow to enroll the keypad. The first few screens describe best practice for device placement and enrollment.
  21. Follow the prompts to scan the QR code of the keypad. Be sure to press the [0] button once while the keypad is enrolling.
  22. After the keypad is enrolled, follow the prompts to properly install the keypad, then tap Complete installation.
  23. Next, follow the instructions to create a PIN for the keypad.
  24. At this stage, congratulations, the entirety of the Alarm 10 kit should be installed, as indicated by a success screen.

To complete the system guide:

  1. After tapping Next upon enrolling each device in the kit, it is recommended to engage with the system guide flow. Security modes can be applied via the keypad or the Alarm.com app. Tap View guide to continue.
  2. Arm (Away): This security mode triggers an alarm if either the door sensor opens or if motion is detected within the Area.
  3. Arm (Stay): This security mode triggers an alarm if the door sensor opens; however, motion detected within the Area does not trigger the alarm.
  4. Disarm: This security mode does not trigger alarms but continues to monitor movement detection within the Area.
  5. Panic Alarm: This security mode triggers an alarm when selected.
    • Important: This mode can only be selected locally using the keypad by pressing the SOS button. The Alarm.com app does not have this security mode option.
  6. The flow then walks through how to activate each security mode on the keypad.
    • To Arm (Away), enter the PIN on the keypad and then press the Arm (Away) button in the upper right-hand corner.
    • To Arm (Stay), enter the PIN on the keypad and then press the Arm (Stay) button in the upper center row.
    • To Disarm, enter the PIN on the keypad and then press the Disarm button in the upper left-hand corner.
    • To trigger a Panic Alarm, press and hold the SOS button for two seconds.

To complete the system test:

  1. After going through the system guide, it is recommended to complete the system test. Tap Start test when the screen below displays.
  2. First, test the Alarm Pod siren by selecting Sound siren. Tap Next to move forward after the siren successfully sounds.
    • Note: The sound level of the siren is 98 dB.
  3. Next, test the door sensor by opening the door where the sensor is installed. If working correctly, the door icon on the right-hand side should change to indicate being open. Tap The icon is not changing for help if this is not the case. Click Next once this step is completed.
  4. Next, walk around the room where the nami sensing Area has been established with the activity sensors, and confirm that the graph changes and reflects the movement. Tap Complete test once movement detection is confirmed.
